Mark the date! On July 15, get ready to meet the King of Dreams and of the members of his powerful, but unusual family.
The wait will finally be over for The Sandman – this year’s listening event! – when US audio entertainment producer Audible releases the first instalment of a multi-part audio adaptation of British author Neil Gaiman’s classic DC comic series. This instalment adapts the first three volumes of The Sandman, namely Preludes And Nocturnes, The Doll’s House and Dream Country.
The original run of Gaiman’s comic book series The Sandman ran for 75 issues from January 1989 to March 1996. The Sandman has been critically acclaimed, and hailed by the Los Angeles Times magazine as “the greatest epic in the history of comic books”. It tells the story of Morpheus, the immortal king of dreams and stories, and his interactions with characters from myths, real-life history and fiction.
A powerhouse supporting cast helps translate this masterwork into a sonic experience worthy of its legacy, including Riz Ahmed, Kat Dennings, Taron Egerton, Samantha Morton, Bebe Neuwirth, Andy Serkis, and more. Setting the stage for their performance is an unprecedented cinematic soundscape featuring an original musical score by British Academy Award winner James Hannigan.
Gaiman, 59, who plays the narrator in the Audible Original, posted a trailer for the audio series on his Facebook page. Follow him as he leads listeners along a winding path of myths, imagination and, often, terror. 온라인카지노
In this recent post, Gaiman also mentioned the upcoming Sandman Netflix television series, revealing that it will be an updated version on his work. This Audible audio series, on the other hand, serves as a straightforward adaptation.
“The audio adaptations are much closer to the original graphic novels, each episode being a comic in the original. Eleven hours of drama. The cast is amazing. The production and the music are glorious. I’m not sure about the narrator, but everything else is sparkling and exciting. I hope you all enjoy it, ” wrote Gaiman.
For the audio series, he had given director Dirk Maggs the original The Sandman scripts for source material.
“So often what I’m saying as narrator is what I asked the artists to draw, over 30 years ago, ” said Gaiman.
The audio series will also be released in the CD format.
You can pre-order the Audible Original version of The Sandman for US$34.95 (about RM150) here.
